The UN is concerned by “deeply disturbing” reports from Amsterdam of violence against Israeli citizens. This was stated by Jeremy Lawrence, spokesperson for the UN Human Rights Office, at a press conference in Geneva, reported the Dutch National News Agency ANP.
“No one should be subjected to discrimination or violence based on nationality, religion, ethnicity or other origin. “We understand that authorities have opened an investigation into this incident,” Lawrence said.
Last night supporters of Israeli football club Maccabi (Tel Aviv) were attacked in Amsterdam. Police arrested 62 people. Some victims had to be hospitalized.
