Elections in Condepe-SP determine the triple list of the National Police Ombudsman

Sao Paulo – The election carried out by the State Council for the Defense of Human Rights (Condepe) on Thursday (14/11) determined three names that would be submitted to governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republican Party) to occupy the position of São Paulo Paulo Police ombudsman for the next two years.

The Office of the Ombudsman is responsible for receiving reports, complaints and praise regarding the performance of police officers and forwarding them to the state government. Four candidates were presented to representatives of the Judiciary (TJSP), the Public Ministry of São Paulo, the Public Defender's Office, the OAB-SP, and other members of civil society. Last Monday, the board held a debate between competitors.

There were no abstainers and the person with the most votes on the triple list was the current ombudsman, Claudio Aparecido da Silva, who is seeking reappointment, with 9 votes. In second place, Valdison Anunciação Pereira received 8 votes. Third place was Mauro Caseri, with 7 votes. Luana de Oliveira was left off the three-person shortlist, with 2 votes.

The results will be published in the Official Gazette and forwarded to the Civil House of the state government. According to the President of Condepe, Adilson Santiago, there is no obligation, but it is recommended that the governor make a choice no later than December 23, when the term of office of the current ombudsman ends.
