Japan eyes fiscal spending of $141 billion under new stimulus package, says NHK By Reuters

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan's government is considering fiscal spending worth 21.9 trillion yen ($141 billion) under a new stimulus package to be approved this week, public broadcaster NHK said on Thursday.

The total amount of the package, which includes funding from the private sector, will total 39 trillion yen, with 13.9 trillion yen coming from the government's general account, NHK reported without citing a source.

A major hurdle over the package was resolved on Wednesday after Japan's ruling coalition agreed with the main opposition party on a draft package designed to help cushion the impact of rising prices on households.
