Truck traffic is very heavy in the area of the “Danube Bridge” (BCP) border checkpoint near Ruse. This was reported to the BTA via the border crossing.
Around 40 heavy goods vehicles were waiting at the border area this afternoon. The remaining trucks were mostly in buffer parking lots that were nearly full. Staying time there is around 18 hours.
Mitko Agovski was among the drivers waiting. “I came from Greece. I arrived in Rousse at around 19:30 yesterday, and I left the parking lot at 12:30 today. It took a long time, but there was nothing to do. Queues were a big problem. I went to Bucharest, take it apart and put it back the other way around,” explained Mitko Agovski to BTA.
The border crossing informed that a total of 2,921 trucks passed through the facility in both directions during the last 24 hours. Of these, 1,489 people entered Bulgaria, and 1,432 people left the country.
From there, they explained, truck traffic is expected to be very heavy in the coming days. The reason is the temporary suspension of processing of cargo vehicles at the “Lesovo” and “Kapitan Andreevo” border crossings by Türkiye due to the introduction of a new information system, as well as an increase in deliveries due to the approaching holidays.
