In honor of Black Awareness Day, Uber will offer free rides to places that celebrate Black culture and history, such as fairs, festivals, museums and restaurants. Action curated by the tourism startup Black Diasporahappens in cities like Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, São Paulo, Salvador, Rio de Janeiro and Recife.
“The campaign encourages recognition of black spaces and companies that aim to celebrate our existence, culture and communities”, said Antonio Pita, co-founder of Diáspora Black. He also added that “in addition to visibility, these actions activate consumption in these spaces in different areas of the city. We are proud to sign on as a curator for the third year, recommending spaces and activities that we admire and inspire us as they become a reference for quilombamento and building a new future for the black community.”
In the Bahia capital, acts include Bistrô Negreiros, Casa das Histórias de Salvador, Espaço Cultural da Barroquinha and Feira de São Joaquim. To access the promotion, users must enter a code CultureNegraSSA24 in the Uber app before requesting a ride. This promotion is valid from 14 to 24 November to one of the locations indicated by the company for a maximum value of R$20 per trip.
