In March, federal deputy Chiquinho Brazão (not the party), identified as one of the masterminds behind the murder of Rio councilor Marielle Franco (PSOL), was transferred to Campo Grande at the request of his defense.
He and his brother Domingos Brazão were named in former PM Ronnie Lessa's statement as being responsible for the murder of MP and driver Anderson Gomes.
Since March this year, Zinho has been awaiting trial at the Campo Grande penitentiary. He was arrested on December 24, 2023, when he appeared before the Inspector of the Federal Police (PF) in Rio, at Praça Mauá, Port Area of the city. The arrest came after intense negotiations between his lawyer and police.
Zinho is thought to be responsible for leading attacks in the West Zone late last year, following the death of 24-year-old Matheus da Silva Rezende, the militia member's nephew. At that time, there were at least 12 arrest warrants issued by the court against these militia members.
Marcinho VP was also in Campo Grande, one of the leaders of Comando Vermelho (CV). The criminal was transferred to the unit in January, after escaping from Mossoró prison, in Rio Grande do Norte.
The drug trafficker has been in prison since 1996, when he was arrested in Porto Alegre (RS). He was sentenced to 37 years in prison for criminal association, drug trafficking and murder.
