Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is questionable for the Bavarian derby with Augsburg

Bayern Munich goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer is doubtful for tomorrow's Bavarian derby against Augsburg, the club announced.

During yesterday's team training session at the “Sebner Strasse” headquarters, Neuer felt “a prick in the rib area”, explained team coach Vincent Kompany at his press conference.

“It's still early because we have training in the afternoon too. We hope he can start in tomorrow's match. We'll just have to wait and see how he is in training,” said the Belgian specialist. This happened just 4 days before the match against Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League.

Neuer's replacement, Sven Ulreich, is also absent for personal reasons. “We started from the principle that Manu will be able to play. If not, Daniel Peretz will take the field tomorrow. We are sure that he will perform very well with his national team,” stressed Kompany. International player Israel Peretz (4 caps) since November 2022 was perfect last week in the Nations League in matches against France (0:0) and Belgium (1:0). He arrived at Bayern in the summer of 2023 from Maccabi Tel Aviv and has played just one German Cup game so far, appearing for a quarter of an hour in the final league game against Wolfsburg last season.

After hosting Augsburg, Bayern will enter a series of 3 matches in seven days – against Paris Saint-Germain (Champions League), visiting Borussia Dortmund (Championship) and against Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16 of the German Cup.
