However, the EBU statement clarified that “contrary to some media reports and networking speculation, this incident did not involve any other participants or members of the delegation.” Furthermore, the EBU highlighted its zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behavior during the event and its commitment to providing a safe working environment for all competition staff. In this context, Joost Klein's behavior towards a team member was considered a violation of the competition rules.
The festival is facing a new controversy while awaiting the outcome of the intended televoting Israel, one of the betting favorites but also the only act that received boos at every performance. The possibility of a victory for Golan grew stronger after Thursday's semi-final, when Italian television mistakenly published the “incomplete” results of its televoting, with Israel receiving almost 40% of the vote.
