Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said today that 2024 will be the first year in which more Romanians return to the country than leave, and said that the Romanian state should offer a medium-term program for those who want to return to the country, Agerpress reported.
Ciolacu today met with representatives of the Romanian community in the UK at the Romanian Church in London.
“I am happy to tell you the fact that this is the first year when more Romanians returned to Romania than left it. “We have to find this connection and this means making our lives better, being prouder and more useful for themselves, for their families and for our country,” said the Romanian Prime Minister.
He pointed out that countries should offer medium-term, not short-term, programs for those who wish to return to their countries, citing measures such as tax exemptions, relief from starting businesses, providing scholarships to prestigious universities and others.
“We waste too much time and talk too much about these things without doing anything,” stressed the Romanian Prime Minister.
Marcel Cholaku is visiting the UK today and tomorrow, where he will hold meetings with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsey Hoyle and others. Ciolacu will also participate in the Romanian-British economic forum.
