BBC Breakfast Naga Munchetty’s three-word reaction as Charlie Stayt makes co-star dig

Naga Munchetty had three words for Charlie Stayt after he swiped at their co-star.

Naga, 49, and Charlie, 61, returned to the red sofa on Friday (April 19) for the latest instalment of BBC Breakfast. With this April being the wettest on record, Charlie explained that retail sales across the UK had been badly affected.

However, they sent BBC presenter Ben Boulous to a welly boot factory where he revealed that business was actually “booming” for the brand. “There’s no shortage of wellies,” he quipped as he strolled around the warehouse in Bolton.

Ben explained that March was 27% wetter than average, with areas in the south of the UK hit the hardest by the rain. While there were no retail sales growth in February, there was one silver lining – wet weather gear.

The news reader revealed that John Lewis’ sales of umbrellas were up and hooded coat purchases soared by a whopping 250 precent. Having a look around the warehouse, which featured more than 25,000 boxes of wellies, a smaller pair caught Ben’s eye.

The mini blue boots had orange soles and were covered in rockets and stars. Holding them up to the camera, Ben told Naga and Charlie that he was “on a mission” to find a pair in his size.

“They’re very cute,” Naga confessed. But Charlie couldn’t resist making a little dig at his co-star, asking: “That’s not your size, Ben?” Chuckles could be heard from the studio as Ben responded: “Well I could try but we’ll be here a long time.”

Back on the red sofa, Naga told Charlie: “There’s foot damage all over that trying to squeeze those in.” Naga added: “You’re very cheeky.”

Matt Taylor was on hand to share the latest forecast updates with viewers as Carol Kirkwood was still missing from the BBC show. The meteorologist, 61, has been absent from BBC Breakfast for the entire week.

Last Tuesday (April 9), Carol admitted she was suffering from a sore throat. She was later praised by regular hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent for battling through with a “ropey” voice.

The Scottish star hasn’t featured on the programme since, with Sarah Keith-Lucas taking the reins earlier in the week.
