Met Office issues urgent storm warning for 19 regions as flash flooding set to hit UK

A new Met Office weather warning is set to come into force in just hours with heavy rain predicted to cause flash flooding in areas. The forecaster has placed 19 regions across the south-east, south-west and Wales under a yellow weather warning for rain.

It comes into place from 8pm today (Easter Sunday) and lasts until just before midnight. In a statement it said: “Evening rain will be heavy at times, and perhaps accompanied by an isolated rumble of thunder. In a few places 20 to 30 mm of rain may build up over a relatively short period of time.”
