Solar eclipse 2024 live stream: Watch historic moment as millions enter sudden darkness

The total solar eclipse has begun, as tens of millions of people in Mexico and the United States steps outside to witness the temporary masking of the sun.

This year’s Great American Eclipse was visible along Mexico’s Pacific coast at 11:07am local time (7:07pm BST) on Monday.

In one minute, the natural phenomena completely blocked the sun, as citizens in Mazatlan, Mexico could be heard shouting and screaming in ecstasy.

The total solar eclipse lasts up to four minutes and 28 seconds – twice as long as it was during the U.S. coast-to-coast eclipse in 2017 because the moon is closer to Earth.

During Monday’s full eclipse, the moon slipped right in front of the sun, entirely blocking it.
