The leader of ERC in the Barcelona City Council, Ernest Maragall. EP
In a statement last Friday after the extraordinary meeting of the party's Executive Council and National Council, the Republicans explained that they have opened four disciplinary files: two minor, one serious and one very serious, and that charges can now be filed.
Of the four involved, the ERC has already temporarily suspended from the struggle those with serious records – who could be punished with expulsion from the party for two years – and one very serious one, namely the one who the party proposes to permanently expel, while the cases are Mild. only entail a warning.
A very serious file has been opened against the L'Anoia militant, which could lead to definitive expulsion from the party, while the Moya case is serious and could mean the suspension of militancy for two years, and the minor only involves a warning.
In a statement, the party said these are interim measures, pending the allegations by those involved and the ERC Guarantee Commission to endorse them.
New protocol and audit
Last Friday, the party board received the Compliance Officer's report on this matter and ratified the text, which includes “the development of a new internal protocol for the design and management of campaigns and activism”.
The aim of this new protocol is to “never cross ethical boundaries, as happened in the case of the posters”, and the report also calls for an internal audit to clarify the doubts that have arisen within the party about this campaign.
The Republican executive branch has conspired “to ensure that these events do not recur” and has demanded that all investigations be carried out to clarify the doubts raised by this communications campaign.
