New weather maps Frosty and windy weather is expected across the UK next week, forecasters say, in what will be the first real sign of an early winter.

Data collected wxcharts.com show all Scotland And Northern Ireland Icy arctic winds are expected, with temperatures in many parts of the country dropping to just 1°C by Thursday, September 12.

Temperatures are also likely to approach freezing across much of England, with major cities such as Newcastle seeing temperatures of 12°C and Manchester seeing temperatures of around 1°C.

Wales is also forecast to be very cold, with temperatures falling to 3°C across large areas of the south-west of the country.

Temperatures are expected to be slightly warmer in the south-east of England, including London and Norwich, as well as parts of central England and the east coast, temperatures will also be around 5–6°C.

However, forecasts suggest this may not be the end of the warmer weather Britons have enjoyed over the past few weeks.

WXCharts forecasts for next week show the country will split in half from the Pennines in the north to the Isle of Wight in the south from September 19, with temperatures rising to 24C on the eastern side of the divide. Warm weather with temperatures of 20°C is expected in parts of London and the south-east of the country as far as Newcastle.

However, west of Birmingham it will be significantly cooler, with temperatures falling to 14C in parts of Wales, the West Country, Glasgow and Northern Ireland.

Autumn officially arrives in the UK on Sunday 22 September, with warmer temperatures forecast for this weekend.

According to Netweather.tv, the country may experience higher than usual temperatures between September 16 and 22.

“Temperatures are again expected to be 1-2C above long-term normal in most areas, and this time the warmth is expected to extend into northern Scotland, with low pressure in the west forcing southerly and south-westerly winds north across the UK,” the forecast said.

“However, the north and particularly north-west of Scotland are likely to remain drier than usual, despite a more unstable pattern overall than in week two.

“Otherwise, much of the UK is likely to see rainier than normal again. Sunshine totals could be slightly above normal in northern and eastern Scotland and north-east England, but are expected to be below normal in the south-west of the UK.”
