The American tribal love rock musical Hair celebrates the 1960s counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded and fringed glory.
In a contagiously energetic way stone beat, the show wows the audience with songs like 'Aquarius', 'Good Morning, Starshine' and 'Let The Sunshine In'. Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, Hair remains as relevant as ever as it explores what it means to be young in a changing world.
Hair debuted off-Broadway in 1967 and was an instant sensation. She moved to a second location and played 144 performances. On April 29, 1968, Hair opened on Broadway at the Biltmore Theater. The show's nudity broke all theater conventions and made it a first for a Broadway musical, the show made national headlines and played for 1,750 performances.
Hair tells the story of a hippie tribe around the time of the Vietnam War and addresses the sexual revolution, spiritual enlightenment, recreational drug use, and directly addresses outdated, conservative views on homosexuality, race, emerging capitalism, and war.
The show now comes to Fuengirola at the Salón Varietés Theater in Fuengirola from Wednesday 5 June to Sunday 9 June every evening at 9pm (due to the summer heat this performance will start later than usual).
