Pepe Carvalho, Perhaps the most iconic, hedonistic and culinary private detective in the country's crime novels, he first appeared in 'I Killed Kennedy', published by Planeta in 1972. A lucid and prolific writer and journalist from Barcelona Manuel Vazquez Montalban (1939-2003) has given birth to a character who revolutionized the genre and became a reference, along with Greece Markaris (one of the stars of Tusquets) and Italian Camilleri, from a Mediterranean detective novel. With one of Carvalho's cases, 'The South Seas', he won the Planeta in 1979. Outside the series, most of his prolific work was originally published in the group, with titles such as 'Galíndez', 'Autobiografia del general France' or 'Sentimental Chronicle of the Transition' (now republished by another publisher).
