The Deya Sport men's volleyball team, which won the Bulgarian Cup last season, lost 1:3 (25:20, 19:25, 19:25, 15:25) when visiting Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus in the first match of the 1/16-final CEV Cup tournament.
Head coach Francesco Cadedu couldn't rely on experienced players – Georgi Bratoev, Valentin Bratoev, Teodor Todorov and Nikolay Nikolov, but his men played a strong first game, where they managed to win with a time of 25:20.
The Burgas team started badly in the second part and allowed Ammonia to take the initiative. In the end, Cyprus reached 25:19, which equalized the score 1:1.
The Deja volleyball players could not shake off their weak performance in the second part and conceded a passive 0:5 in the third part. Next, they reduced the deficit to 9:11, but they didn't have much strength and pulled back again at 19:25.
The fourth set started again with a 5:0 lead in Omonia's favor, and then the hosts from Cyprus managed to maintain the distance and reach 25:15 in their favor, thus winning the match with a 3:1 game.
The second leg in Burgas will be held on November 20 at 19.00.
