Saturday Kitchen guest Anna Haugh told host Matt Tebbutt he was a little too close to her in an awkward moment on the BBC show this morning. The chef informed the presenter about the issue as he overlooked her rainbow trout dish, seemingly unaware he was intruding her personal space.
Confronting the 50-year-old host, Anna told him: “You’re breathing literally down my neck, Matt,” which caused her fellow guests Frank Skinner and Olly Smith to laugh.
The latter, who is a regular guest on the show, then chimed in saying: “He does do that,” while Frank added: “Yeah, I’m not liking that.” In response to the pair, Anna, 43, branded Matt’s habit “strange” before continuing with her demonstration.
After seemingly taking her complaint on board, the presenter was seen standing slightly further away from Anna as he questioned her “beautiful” recipe. Earlier on in the show, the chef also jokingly hit back at Matt as he probed her about the worst Irish celebrity she had worked with.
Anna explained that she had a new show coming up which involves her travelling around Ireland to meet producers, farmers and celebrities and chat to them about their “food memories”.
Keen to know more, Matt chimed in and asked: “Got anyone in mind?”
“Some of them are good, some of them are bad,” Anna candidly replied, which the presenter to ask: “Who’s the bad one?”
She replied, laughing: “Matt, I don’t know why you’re trying to get me into trouble, you know this is going to backfire.”
Still not giving up with trying to get an answer however, he continued: “Just one, come on, name names.”
As she tried to move away from the moment, the chef joked: “Frank Skinner is going to be on.”
Thankfully for Anna, the conversation was left as Matt complimented her “delicious” cauliflower sauce creation.
Many viewers flocked to social media during the show to share their thoughts on the chef’s dish as well as the pre-recorded episode.
One wrote: “Another great show. As it was such a lovely morning I managed to watch it outside. Definitely did not to miss this one.”
A second commented: “Great show this morning! Anna is a great guest chef and , as always, the ‘crack’ was great!”
A third typed: “Anna that rainbow trout dish looks delicious!”
Saturday Kitchen continues next week at 10am on BBC One.
