Coronation Street star who made £120k a year on soap now left sleeping on friends’ floors

A former Coronation Street actor has claimed that he’s crashing on friends’ floors after losing his six figure income for “speaking out”. Sean Ward, 35, believes that since receiving backlash on social media for sharing his controversial opinions about vaccinations, his high-profile career has gone down the pan and he has been relying on the generosity of his pals.

Sean revealed he made £120k salary on the ITV soap, in which he was playing bad boy Callum Logan. However, these days he earns a fraction of that, and has been forced to stay with his pals temporarily.

The actor took to Instagram, where he has 169,000 followers, over the weekend to share a snap of himself looking dapper on the red carpet before his role on the soap came to an end. The glamorous snap showed Sean wearing a suit

Alongside the image, he wrote a lengthy caption. His message read: “I know deeply how lonely this can be and isolating, after trying to take my own life in 2018 after discovering the evil on this planet and no one caring.

“I decided using whatever s**tty little platform I’d built through my acting career to at least try sieve through the propaganda together and thereby sabotaging my own reasonably successful career – to go from earning 120K a year to 12K a year, sleeping on a mates mattress is actually unfathomable to most people.

“I’m still building a life to feel proud of. It wasn’t much of a choice though as far as I’m concerned, but something of a moral necessity.

“And, of course, for the resourceful, there’s always more than one way to earn a living, and I’ve built myself back up many times over the last 3 years when all hope was lost, so it doesn’t feel like I’ve thrown away very much in fact.

He continued: “I always will return to acting. When the time is right. But my inner pain losing everything that I built was hard and I have admittedly spiralled out of control many times.

“Especially after losing my Grandad. So it’s still an ongoing process not to numb myself with alcohol and drugs. I haven’t fallen into that horrible path now for months.

“So I am proud of myself and anyone else feeling the same. You’re never alone. We all have shown we care. And that keeps me going. Thank you. Seany x,” he concluded.

Sean previously revealed that securing a job after airing his anti Covid-19 vaccination views has been difficult. He also found himself embroiled in an incident in 2021 that saw him arrested during an anti-vaccination protest in London.

“Firstly the work dried up,” he said last year, suggesting that producers no longer wanted to work with him. “No one would hire me whether in front of or behind the camera, all my usual ways of making money just stopped, eventually I couldn’t afford the rent,” the Manchester local added to The Mirror.

The actor had to move out of his four-bedroom house and sleep on a friend’s couch until his professional work would pick up again. “I had to put all my belongings into storage,” he recalled.

“After a while, I couldn’t afford to pay the storage bill and after about four weeks of missing the payments – equating to about £500 – Safestore UK sold all my belongings.

“My sofa, my bed frame, my office equipment, desk, chair, wardrobes, mirrors, all my coats and clothes and my projector.” He shared, however, that he no longer had to pay rent, which has ultimately helped him save the small amount of money he’s been earning from side projects.
