I’m A Celebrity’s Nella Rose’s family has broken their silence after she received a flurry of complaints and backlash from viewers of the ITV show. Tensions continued rising in the jungle after Nella was appointed the new camp leader.
The YouTube star, 26, recently caused chaos among her fellow campmates after she was voted into the top position.
She chose ex-EastEnders actor Danielle Harold as her deputy before shaking things up for the celebrities’ duties.
Despite Fred Sirieix’s cooking ability, Nella demoted him as the camp’s chef, although he’s held the role since the series began.
She declared that “karma is a b***” following the demotion to pot washer after the First Dates star made her and ITV presenter Josie Gibson wash dishes twice.
After putting Fred and former politician Nigel Farage as the new camp dishwashers, she said: “Since they both like to complain about cleaning standards they can do it themselves.”
The move sparked a furious backlash from I’m A Celebrity fans. But it wasn’t the first time Nella had clashed with Fred, as viewers will remember, only days into the jungle she refused to eat any of the food he had cooked and vowed to stay away from him following an innocent comment he made about being old enough to be her dad.
Having lost both her parents, the YouTube star took the comment personally, Nella told Fred that they could “stick to different sides” of the camp.
She also commented that Fred had been “making her life hell” and decided it was time to get payback with her newfound power in the jungle.
Now, Nella’s family has spoken out and revealed how proud they are, despite the ongoing controversy.
Some fans have blasted her for the “nasty” and “petty” behaviour towards Fred and hope she is first to be voted out in Sunday night’s show.
“All of Nella’s siblings and other members of her family, wherever they are in the world, are watching her in the jungle – and praying that she wins,” a relative told the MailOnline.
“We are very proud of her achievements, it’s amazing what she’s done. She is showing the fighting spirit of the Congolese people and we are all with her.”
Nella and her brother Albert were forced to leave their flat in North London just 30 days after their mum Eseho Omolongo sadly passed away suddenly in 2016.
They had to cope with the further heartbreaking loss of their dad Kamango Paul Hollela four years later.
