Sunday Brunch fans threaten to ‘switch off’ as they issue same complaint minutes into show

Sunday Brunch viewers have taken to social media to aim vitriol at this week’s guest bookings. The Channel 4 staple returned to its usual 9.30am slot on Sunday (7 April) with Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer at the helm.

In the opening segment of Sunday Brunch, guests such as The Zutons and Orbital were introduced, as well as actress Jo Hartley and author Greg Jenner. Comedian Jessica Knappett was also present as well as guest chef and content creator Martyn Odell.

During the live introductions, Inbetweeners star Jessica, 39, revealed she would be celebrating her 40th birthday on Tuesday. This caused Tim, 56, to produce a cake and lead a celebratory sing-song.

Elsewhere in the programme, Martyn cooked up a vegan storm in the kitchen. He also admitted that the “best thing” about becoming an influencer is receiving “free underwear” before claiming he’d brought in a pair for host Tim.

Later on, the group tucked into a ‘cheese and Weetabix cracker’ during the beloved ‘Snack Wars’ segment. Jessica complained that the bizarre item was “too dry” to eat while Jo, 52, complimented the item and claimed it was an “elite” snack.

Unfortunately, fans of Sunday Brunch were quick to complain that they weren’t impressed with this week’s panel and that they were largely unfamiliar with the show’s guests.

One user took to social media and wrote: “A list line up there then. Switches over… #sundaybrunch.” (sic)

A second posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, and typed: “Nope don’t know any of them time to switch off #sundaybrunch.” (sic)

Another queried: “@SundayBrunchC4 #sundaybrunch Who, Who, Who, Who, Who, Who, & Who?” (sic)

Elsewhere, one user was impressed with Gregg’s appearance on the show: “Can we just have Greg the Egyptologist and the cooking on today’s show please – I could listen to him all day! No idea who any of the other guests are tbh.”

A fifth took to Instagram and wrote: “Love @johartleyactor …she’s so excellent in every Shane Meadows film I’ve seen her in!” (sic)

“Only know Jo Hartley,” typed another.

Jo is best known for appearing as Cynthia Fields in Sean Meadows’ This Is England franchise, as well as portraying CC Linda Markel in the new ITV series, Passenger.

The British supernatural comedy-thriller also stars Wunmi Mosaku, My Mad, Fat Diary’s Nico Mirallegro and Shameless star David Threlfall, as well as Daniel Ryan and Rowan Robinson.

Tune into Sunday Brunch every Sunday on Channel 4 from 9.30am
