Virgin River boss talks length of Lizzie’s pregnancy as Charmaine ‘finally’ gives birth

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Virgin River.

A Virgin River boss has opened up on how Lizzie’s pregnancy will go in comparison to Charmaine’s who gave birth to twins in season five.

Fans were left with that heartwarming feeling when Lizzie (played by Sarah Dugdale) shared that she was pregnant with boyfriend Denny Cutler (Kai Bradbury) in the latest festive episodes.

She thought there was a possibility in part one of the Netflix drama but this was later confirmed, bringing the happy couple even closer together over the Christmas period.

While it is good news Lizzie is expecting, fans cannot help but think of Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) who had been pregnant for the first four seasons of the Netflix drama.

It was only in the second part of series five that she finally gave birth to her twin boys, although even the labour scene has received criticism from fans.

Taking to, X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their relief at Charmaine’s pregnancy coming to an end, one fan wrote: “It only took eight years, but thankfully Charmaine FINALLY had her babies.”

Another commented: “Five seasons and Charmaine finally had her twins”, while a third added: “Charmaine said she felt like she’s been pregnant for years.

“You have been pregnant for years, you been pregnant since season one.”

But showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has addressed how Lizzie’s pregnancy storyline is going to play out in comparison.

When asked by Entertainment Weekly if Lizzie is going to be pregnant as long as Charmaine was, Smith had a simple answer to put Netflix subscribers’ minds at ease.

He commented: “Considering Charmaine was pregnant for four seasons, I will say no.”

Exactly how long Lizzie will be in this condition though hasn’t been confirmed so it could still be quite some time before fans get to see Lizzie become a mum.

Her and Denny, much like every couple in the romantic drama, didn’t have the easiest beginning to their relationship.

Denny first appeared in Virgin River as the long lost grandson of Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson), whose son had died years prior and had no knowledge of his existence.

It wasn’t too long before sparks flew between Denny and Lizzie but they had a rough patch when they first started dating.

This was because he was keeping the fact he has Huntington’s Disease a secret from his girlfriend.

Thankfully, they have been open with one another since then and are now getting excited for the next chapter of their lives.

Virgin River is available to watch on Netflix.
