Royal Family face ‘difficult’ Prince Harry decision that could make them look ‘churlish’

However, Ward wrote in The Telegraph that a “a lack of support for the competitors from senior royals would look churlish”, should the UK be picked to host the Invictus Games in 2027.

She added that the Royal Family are now in a “difficult spot” because of the bid to host the games, as their priorities currently lie elsewhere.

Prince William and Princess Kate have previously shown support for the Invictus Games by providing a substantial amount of money for it through their Royal Foundation.

A royal source was quoted: “Prince William and Catherine always supported Harry’s efforts to establish Invictus. They are delighted that it has been a success.”

The Invictus Games was co-founded by Prince Harry in order for sick and injured servicemen and women to compete in sporting events.

Since it began in 2014, both the Duke, and later Meghan, have been avid supporters of the event. They recently travelled to Canada to promote the 2025 games, which will take place in Vancouver and Whistler.
