Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, have been “excluded” from a royal wedding following the “royal racist” debacle. The Duke of Westminster, a longtime friend of Prince Harry’s and godfather to Prince Archie Mountbatten, has reportedly not invited the Sussexes to his upcoming wedding.
Hugh Grosvenor is due to tie the knot with Olivia Henson next month in a ceremony at Chester Cathedral, near his family’s seat at Eaton Hall in Cheshire. The event is among the highest-anticipated of the year, with the 7th Duke of Westminster, and will be well-attended by the Royal Family.
The Duke has invited a host of royals, including King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, with the Prince – who also made the high society figure godfather to Prince George – tipped to serve as best man. But a friend of William and Harry’s has said the Sussexes were not invited to avoid a potential family clash.
A spokesman for the Duke said over the weekend: “We are not in a position to comment on the guest list.” The news closely follows revelations contained in the now-pulled Dutch copies of Royal author Omid Scobie’s book Endgame, which erroneously named two royals who allegedly raised “concerns” about the skin colour of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s firstborn son.
