INSETE, the analysis department of industry organization SETE, calculated that more than 32 million tourists came to the country in the first nine months of this year.
22.6 million of them arrived, giving a year-on-year increase of 7.9 percent. In September alone, 3.7 million passengers were recorded, an increase of 7.1 percent compared to September 2023.
The remaining 10.3 million visitors reached Greece by land. Here an even greater increase was recorded, namely 14.5%.
Foreign guests in Greece – more of them came than in the previous year
Of Greece's main airports, 6.3 million foreign passengers were served in Athens, an increase of 13.1 percent compared to last year, in Thessaloniki 1.9 million (+2 percent), in Heraklion 3.4 million (+6.4 percent ).
In the Dodecanese, the best results were achieved by Rhodes Airport with 2.7 million passengers (+13.3 percent), and Kos with 1.2 million passengers (+3.4 percent).
