Illegal coal worth R$75,600 was confiscated in Manaus West Zone

About 30 cubic meters of illegal charcoal was confiscated on Monday (14) evening, in a truck, in the Tarumã area, West Zone of Manaus. The 38-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested.

While patrolling Avenida do Turismo, at around 23.00, police officers from the Environmental Battalion approached a vehicle with registration number BWG – 6473 which was transporting plant products worth approximately R$75,600.

Even when undergoing procedures at the police, the truck driver did not show the Forest Origin Document (DOF), which is an environmental crime.

The man, his truck and cargo were taken to the 19th Integrated Police (DIP).

Environmental crime

It is an environmental crime to sell, transport, store or expose for sale products derived from plants (coal or wood) without appropriate permits or not in accordance with documentation, so that the perpetrator will be subject to penalties as regulated in the Environmental Crimes Law. .
