And not because some people prefer to work in July and August to go on vacation in September (you know: he who laughs last, laughs best), but because in the entertainment, film and television industry, that's when the big bets of the season are. We're talking about 'Rapa', the series by the Coira brothers for the platform after the two seasons of 'Hierro', that police drama starring Candela Peña as a judge from the peninsula who ends up in the Canary Islands. 'Rapa' also fits into the category of 'crime with a view' (a genre in itself; Movistar Plus+ has just aired 'Second Death'), which on this occasion takes place in Galicia. The main characters are an atypical couple, formed by Javier Cámara as a boring literature teacher who is about to retire because of his illness (he has ALS) and Mónica López (also in 'Rapa') as a vigilante.
The first season of 'Rapa' premiered in June 2022 (filming took place in the fall of 2021, where came ABC) and became one of the highest rated Spanish series of the year and on the platform. The second and much better season premiered a year later, in June 2023. Movistar Plus+ A time of year is usually set for each series (for example, 'La Unidad' was broadcast in May), so the third and final season of 'Rapa' was expected to premiere in June 2024. The platform released another police thriller, 'Second Death', this one set in Cantabria.
But now the mystery is solved: Movistar Plus+ will release the third and final season of 'Rapa' in September. Its leading couple returns. Also returning is the young Tacho, that is to say Darío Loureiro. And they are joined by top performers like Mercedes Sampietro and Cristina Castaño, whose characters will presumably be involved in the new cases (a kidnapping, an accusation of murder) that must be solved.
The exact date of the premiere is unknown and whether the broadcast will be weekly Movistar Plus+ will release the final six episodes at once.
