Catalonia sexual harassment

Although public universities in Spain have their own protocols against sexual harassment, these measures alone are not enough. Most cases go unreported, and sanctions for abusers are often delayed or never provided. Therefore, many students are forced to live with men they accuse of abusing them until the end of their studies or ultimately choose to leave the academic field.

Paula Martín Peláez experienced second-degree harassment when she was a student at the Complutense University of Madrid, but she did not abandon her studies but decided to investigate it. He obtained a pre-doctoral contract to prepare his thesis where he collected the testimony of 28 people who experienced harassment at UCM by students or teachers and whose complaints, in many cases, were fruitless.
