The CDMX Congress approved the use of trains for passenger transportation

The plenary session of the Congress of Mexico City, in its capacity as Permanent Constituency, unanimously approved the use of the railroad for passenger transportation.

With 51 votes in favor, none against and no abstentions, the local Congress approved minutes with a draft decision to reform paragraph IV and add paragraph V to Article 28 of the Political Constitution of the United States, concerning highway and rail transportation matters. .

In this regard, the Chair of the Board of Directors of the local Congress, Martha Avila, stated that this constitutional reform would allow the State of Mexico to restore and use the railroad to provide passenger transportation services.

“Through this reform we contribute to the nation's economic development, ensuring mobility services that are accessible to the entire population,” he said.

Once approved in the local Congress, the minutes will be sent to the Chamber of Senators and the Chamber of Deputies of the Union Congress for appropriate constitutional and legal effect.
