Civil police officers from the 70th Interactive Police Station (DIP) Juruá (674 kilometers from Manaus) served, on Thursday (7), two definitive arrest warrants against the couple José Fernandes da Silva, 52, and Marlinda Pinheiro Batista, 51, for drug trafficking crimes. José was sentenced to 9 years in prison and Marlinda to 8 years.

According to delegate Bruno Rafael Nunes, from the 70th DIP, the couple was already well known in the city for drug trafficking. In fact, both of them have been charged by the police with the crime of accepting the requirements. They also used bars as a front to sell drugs in Juruá.

“When we learned of the court order condemning the names of José and Marlinda, we carried out an investigation and managed to find them in the area known as Barraco. Therefore, we comply with the court's decision. These arrests strengthen the fight against crime in the municipality,” the delegation said.

José Fernandes da Silva and Marlinda Pinheiro Batista were convicted of drug trafficking. They will be available to the Judiciary.
