Emergency services have rushed to the scene after a huge lorry crash has caused long delays on the M6.
An update on the National Highways website reads: “The M6 in Cumbria is closed northbound between J39 (Shap) and J40 (Penrith) due to a collisioninvolving a heavy goods vehicle that has overturned and has come to rest on the central reservation barrier.
“This has resulted in mud being spread across the carriageway, along with a fuel spillage. Lane 3 (of 3) is also closed on the southbound carriageway between J40 and J39.
“Emergency services are in attendance. When the emergency services have finished working, recovery, clean up and barrier repairs will be required.”
It is not yet known whether there have been any injuries as a result of this incident. Express.co.uk has contacted local police, fire and ambulance services for more information.
Along with this collision, there is another collision which happened earlier on this morning on the M6 at J39, this also involved a heavy goods vehicle. The vehicle crossed over from the northbound carriageway onto the southbound and came to rest on the northbound entry slip road at J39.
