Peugeot has given its seven-seat 5008 SUV the electric treatment.
The new E-5008 is a bigger brother to the E-3008 we drove recently in France, with a more practical roofline and a third row of seating.
Under the skin, the 5008 rides on a version of the STLA Medium platform that also underpins the E-3008.
The entry-level model features a 73kWh battery pack good for a claimed 500km of range in front-wheel guise on the WLTP test cycle, while the all-wheel drive is likely to offer a very similar claim. The optional 98kWh long-range battery is good for a 660km claim.
The single-motor 73kWh model has 157kW of power, while the all-wheel drive packs 240kW. The 98kWh long-range battery is mated with a 170kW single electric motor.
All models can fast charge at up to 160kW using a DC public station, or 11kW on an AC plug as standard – although a 22kW AC onboard charger is optional.
Mild-hybrid (100kW, 5.8L per 100km) and plug-in hybrid (145kW, 80km range) options will follow the electric launch variants.
Inside, the E-5008 has space for seven. There’s a claimed 259 litres of boot space with the third row in place, 748 litres with the second row upright, and 1815 litres with both folded flat.
Up front it features the 21-inch i-Cockpit setup from the E-3008. That’s one curved display ahead of the driver, rather than two pieces of glass blended in a gloss black surround.
There’s also a row of i-Toggles on the dashboard which can be customised with the driver’s preferred shortcuts.
Peugeot hasn’t confirmed the E-5008 for Australia just yet, but the E-3008 is coming Down Under in the second half of 2024.
