President Claudia Sheinbaum assured that her country is not militarized and that there will be no human rights violations during her term. However, last weekend, in Tamaulipas, three civilians, including a child under 8 years old, were killed by elements of the army and National Guard in Nuevo Laredo.
The president justified the actions of the men in uniform by saying they acted in response to an organized crime attack and promised that the military's “bad actions” would be punished.
