CD Toledo chooses Alfredo Santaelena as its new coach

He CD Toledo It has taken less than a week to complete the bench replacement for next season. On Sunday, the green team failed to achieve promotion to Second RFEF by losing 1-4 to UD Almería B in the decisive match. On Thursday it was announced that Rubén Gala would not be extended as coach and this Friday, late in the afternoon, announced to Alfredo Santaelena (Madrid, 1967) as a replacement.

Santaelena arrives with the mission to get CD Toledo out of the third RFEF hole, from where it will start for the third consecutive year, and with the approval of the Sports Director, Rubén Ramos, whom he trained a few years ago at DUX Inter in MadridAs an anecdote, goalkeeper Yelco Ramos was also in that team.

Experience is therefore not lacking for the new green coach, 56 years old, who has coached many teams in different categories: Pegaso Tres Cantos, CD Cobeña, CD Ciempozuelos, Unión Deportiva Ibiza, UD Marbella, Fútbol Alcobendas Sport (in two stages), Atlético de Madrid C, Atlético de Madrid B, Cádiz CF (second coach), UD Sanse, DUX Inter de Madrid, Rayo Majadahonda and San Fernando CD.

Previously, Santaelena had a successful playing career, making 210 appearances in the First Division between Atlético de Madrid, Deportivo de la Coruña and Sevilla. He also has the honour of having won the Copa del Rey three times, scoring the decisive goal in two of those finals: in extra time in the 1991 match between Atleti and Mallorca and in the 1995 match between Deportivo and Valencia.
