Singer Liam Payne was found dead on Wednesday (16), at the Argentinian hotel CasaSur, in Buenos Aires. In a statement to the Associated Press, the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security's communications director and spokesman said Payne “jumped from the balcony of his room.”
Argentine authorities said police rushed to the hotel in response to an emergency call just after 5pm local time, warning of an “aggressive man who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol”.
According to the Associated Press, in a call log, the hotel manager said he had “a guest who is overdosing on drugs and alcohol… He's trashing the whole room and, we need you to send someone.”
In the call, the manager emphasized that he was concerned because the room had a balcony.
Alberto Crescenti, head of Argentina's Emergency Medical Attention System (SAME), told local media that the condition was being investigated and an autopsy would be performed. He also said that the artist fell from a height of around 13 to 14 meters and died instantly.
