Miguel dos Santos Gonçalves, 24, was arrested by the Amazonas Civil Police (PC-AM) on suspicion of murdering Gerlande Silva de Sena, 43, in December 2023. He was accused of hiding the victim's body for almost a year. The arrest occurred on Wednesday (16).
Based on police information, the man died from a gun blast and an ax blow to the head. The crime occurred on December 17, 2023, at the Pau Rosa branch, kilometer 21 of the federal highway BR-174.
At that time, the perpetrator and the victim were drinking alcoholic beverages and had an argument. During the fight, Miguel hit Gerlande in the head with an ax and also fired a shot at him.
The investigation showed that, after the crime, Miguel took Gerlande's body to the back of a property, where he buried her in a shallow grave discovered by police nearly a year after the crime.
PC-AM agents excavated the location indicated by the suspect and found Gerlande's body, which was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) for appropriate procedures.
The suspect is in the hands of Justice.
