Messi and Inter Miami broke the points record in MLS

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are having the best regular season in MLS history.

Messi scored three goals and provided one assist in the second half alone, Luis Suárez scored a pair of goals in the first half and Inter Miami beat the New England Revolution 6-2 on Saturday to finish the season with a record 74 points in MLS.

Miami broke the record set by the Revolution itself in 2021 by one point.

With a record of 22 wins, eight draws and four losses, Inter Miami finished the season with a .765 winning percentage for another MLS record. There are four teams — DC United (24-8) and LA Galaxy (24-8) in 1998, as well as LAFC (21-4-9) in 2019 and New England (22-5-7) in 2021 — that finished the MLS season with a .750 record, which was his best until Saturday night.

Inter Miami also became the eighth team in MLS history to end the regular season with just four losses, tying another record.
