Pope Francis proclaimed, this Sunday (20), during Mass in St. Peter's Square, the canonization of José Allamano of Italy for the miracle that allegedly occurred in the Brazilian Amazon. He was the founder of the Consolata Missionary congregation.

According to the Consolata América organization, the miracle that led to the canonization occurred in 1996, in the state of Roraima, when an indigenous Yanomami was attacked by a jaguar in the forest and suffered serious head injuries.

The native man was initially treated by Consolata missionaries and then taken to a Boa Vista hospital for surgery. At that time, a group of missionaries begged Father José Allamano for the child's healing, which was successful, and he later returned to the indigenous community.
