Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Pedro Sánchez faced each other on Wednesday during the scrutiny session in Congress, just a few hours after the agreement was signed between the formations they lead to finally unblock the lockdown the General Council for the Judiciary. “I would have signed it two years ago,” the opposition leader began to justify himself, who has carried out a harsh intervention against the president in a clear internal key against the doubts among his own ranks that the pact could arouse.
“What has changed?” he continued, trying to explain why he is now signing an agreement that he rejected just two years ago. “What has changed is that the European institutions have forced you to sign, Mr Sánchez. And what I want to make clear, ladies and gentlemen, is that this agreement will not help you, as you can imagine. “This agreement is intended to put a limit to the voracity of your government in controlling state institutions.”
The president made no mistake this time. “For you, the fat bitch,” he responded to Feijóo. Pedro Sánchez has welcomed to the agreement and observance of the Constitution” for the popular population. “I understand that you can make some kind of show to appease those who led you down the path of destructive opposition. But I think it is important to appreciate the agreement reached yesterday.”
“Since you welcome me to the agreement, I am going to propose three very simple proposals,” Feijóo replied, attempting to attack the government. The PP leader has asked the president for the resignation of the attorney general, to issue orders to the Constitutional Court so that “they stop manipulating the Supreme Court and stop acquitting the socialists convicted of corruption” and once again referred to his family.
“Sit in front of the media and appear in Congress to explain to us everything that is coming from your family and your environment. Explain the chalets, the homes, the trips, the contracts, the luxury. Mr Sánchez, these are the agreements that the majority of Spaniards believe are pending.”
And the president has again avoided the clash. “Your Honor, this is a government that governs for the majority, which has always been willing to agree in the public interest and in the interest of the social majority. Hopefully, Your Honor, this will be the first of many more agreements,” he concluded.
Indeed, the first vice president, María Jesús Montero, upheld the clash with the people's bank during her scuffle with PP spokesperson Cuca Gamarra. Montero asked Gamarra to reject Argentine President Javier Milei's words about social justice as an “aberration” during the reception and award presented to him by Isabel Díaz Ayuso. “You had the opportunity to distance yourself from Milei's words,” he told the PP secretary general.
“You don't hear a word against Milei, otherwise Ayuso will get angry,” Montero said a few days after the Madrid president presented a medal to the Argentine president. “There is no equality without social justice, which they systematically vote against. That justice that some consider an aberration. Only those you award medals to. Equality and social justice,” he accused him.
