Four young men got into an old swimming pool and got into trouble because of a fire. According to the fire brigade in Essen, the teenagers could not find their way out of the empty building after a small fire broke out there. Emergency services found the young people in the winding building and took them out.
The cause of the fire was initially unclear. Police are investigating whether the teenager was responsible for the fire. Several investigations have been initiated against them, a police spokesman said. Among other things, because of attempted arson and trespassing.

That night, the teenagers themselves called the fire department for help, which had been alerted elsewhere. They then stayed in an area that was not filled with smoke, where emergency services found them and eventually took them out. No one was hurt.
According to a fire department spokesman, the fire was extinguished within minutes. Therefore, piles of debris or trash burn in abandoned bathrooms. The amount of damage is initially unknown.
