Surfer and digital influencer Giulia Manfrini, 36, died after being injured by a swordfish. The accident occurred on Friday (18), when the Italian citizen was surfing in the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia.
Based on information from local authorities, Manfrini was suddenly hit in the chest by the fish and suffered serious wounds several centimeters deep.
“Suddenly a swordfish jumped at Manfrini and hit him in the chest,” said Lahmudin Siregar, Acting Head of the Mentawai Islands Regional Management Agency.
Born and raised in Venaria Reale, Piedmont region, the surfer was helped by two people, but died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
