Mexico, first champion of the Central American Mathematics Olympiad

Mexico City.- Mexico's representative team won four medals at the 26th Central American and Caribbean Mathematical Olympiad (OMCC), placing it in first place in the competition, the Mexican Mathematical Olympiad (WMO) said.

Carlos Daniel Maya Rojas of Hidalgo and Isaac Emanuel Rodríguez Ibarra of Chihuahua each won gold medals.

Artie Aarón Ramírez Villa of Jalisco took silver, while Rodrigo Saldívar Mauricio of Zacatecas took bronze, according to details from the WMO, which thanked Volaris for its support. “Congratulations! You are a source of pride for our country,” wrote Mario Delgado, head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), in reaction to the WMO publication on social networks.

More than 10 thousand students under the age of 17 from 12 countries participate in OMCC, according to the Honduran Ministry of Education. The tests were carried out on October 14 and 15 at the National Pedagogical University of Francisco Morazán (UPNFM).

Over four and a half hours, the students were evaluated in algebra, combinatorics, geometry, graph theory, game theory and number theory, the Honduran agency said.
