A 54-year-old priest was arrested on Monday (15) for allegedly raping a 13-year-old teenager in Manaus. The victim attended the same church as the man and the man allegedly persuaded the victim to have sexual relations with him, according to Civil Police.

The investigation began on September 26 this year, when the teenager allegedly disappeared. Four days later, he and his mother went to the Special Police Office for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (Depca) and the victim told them what had happened between him and the priest.

The man must be held accountable for raping a vulnerable person. More information will be released by PC-AM this Tuesday morning (16).
