Honda is recalling 61,000 vehicles in Canada due to fuel pump problems

Honda is voluntarily recalling 61,000 vehicles in Canada due to concerns that high-pressure fuel pumps may have defective components.

The company said in a statement last week that cracks can form inside the fuel pump if there is a problem with the core, potentially causing a fuel leak.

“Fuel leaks accompanied by sparks increase the risk of fire, along with the potential for accidents or injury,” the statement said said.

More than 700,000 vehicles were recalled in the US due to the same problem. There have been no confirmed reports of fires, accidents or injuries in Canada or the Americas related to this issue, the company said.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail in December, the company said, and asked to take their vehicles to a registered Honda dealer for a free inspection. If the vehicle is found to have a damaged part, it will be replaced.

The following models are affected, according to Honda Canada:

  • 2023-2024 Honda Accord and Accord Hybrid
  • Honda CR-V Hybrid 2023-2025
  • 2025 Honda Civic Sedan and Civic Hybrid Sedan

If you are concerned that your vehicle needs repair, you can also look up your vehicle information number on Honda website.

This is the second major recall carried out by Honda this month. The company recalled nearly 240,000 vehicles in early October due to problems with the steering system.
