The Civil Police seized 4.5 kg of cocaine worth R$300,000, on Wednesday (16), during an inspection of a ship in the port of Maraã, in the interior of Amazonas.
According to delegate Rodrigo Beraldo, from the Maraã 60th Interactive Police Station (DIP), the investigation began after receiving an anonymous tip. Police came to the ship and, as it docked, a passenger jumped overboard.
“We immediately tried to catch the man who ran away. “On seeing our team, he threw away the bag containing about 4.5 kg of cocaine, worth more than R$300,000, and fled through the forest,” the delegation said.
According to the police, investigations are underway to identify the man's whereabouts.
