The dollar rose to 19.90 pesos on Forex

Ciudad Juárez—The value of the dollar reached 19.90 pesos on the international Forex market. According to Gabriela Siller, director of economic analysis at Grupo Financiero Base, the Mexican peso is currently the most depreciating currency against North American currencies.

He published that the national currency accumulated a decline of 3.25 percent or 62.7 cents in the first three days of this week: “The Mexican peso is currently the most depreciated currency against the dollar, reaching a minimum of 19.67 and a maximum of 19.93 pesos per dollar,” he concluded.

Alejandro Sandoval, local president of the Mexican Institute of Financial Executives (IMEF), attributed this volatility to the international scenario. He explained that although national factors were involved, the biggest impact was global factors.

“They have more to do with the United States elections, Donald Trump's attitude towards Mexico, his inflation movements providing a foundation, giving rise to party prejudices related to the interest rate process and so on, which gives rise to volatility,” he said.
